Wordless Wednesday- Fort Toulouse

I want to apologize for the photos varying in size.  I am just not sure what is up with Photobucket today!  You can see all of these and lot more at my FB page.

I know that technically this is supposed to be wordless, but I also enjoy linking up at wordy, wordful and somewhat wordy Wednesday places.  🙂  Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy the pics half as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Our family took a day trip {I hate getting up so early, but it was worth it} down to Fort Toulouse to enjoy their Pioneer Days.   It was part of Young Man’s (about to be 12) birthday request.  So many fantastic trinkets and wares, memorable characters, wonderful smells and history!!  I love history!  As far as I am concerned, writers today cannot possibly imagine better, crazier, or more outrageous people, circumstances or stories than have already been DONE in the history of God’s great earth!  LOL

This man first commanded our attention when he was bellering, “Heads up!” from across the way.  He is a Scotsman, and he takes his golf very seriously.  We were all fascinated by his telling of how golf what invented by the Scots and how it came to be 18 holes long.  He is, by far, the most memorable character there!

This woman’s ability to capture piece by piece the soldiers marching around in formation was amazing.  So many details!

There were many different musicians serenading us with such interesting instruments.

And so many more wonderful people and interesting items…

I have many, many more photos and descriptions that I am uploading to the Yes, They Are All Mine FB page.  I invite you to take a pop over and take a look at them!

There are many great places to see more Wednesday photo memes.  Here are just a couple of them- 5 Minutes for Mom,  or at Dagmar’s place.

Always in God’s mighty hands,

A Full Wednesday

I am going to multitask my Wednesday posts.  How?  I am combining my not-so-wordless, and maybe even a little word-full post with my WFMW post.   I haven’t been participating in WFMW much lately, but our camping trip and outdoor adventures inspired me to share a little something.  🙂

Let’s start with my Word (full, less) Wednesday.

Why this picture?

I chose to share this shot because she had taught herself to ride just two days before we went on our October camping trip.  The girl was taking hills!

This is our Ms. Independent (5)!

My Works For Me Wednesday tip:

We are an outdoor, adventurous and active kind of family.  When we are out and about, at a state park, a local park, fishing, or whatever, we like to take healthy snacks.  Some ideas would be granola, trail mix, dried fruit and other non-messy/ non-liquidy items.  I used to carry them in little sandwich baggies labeled for each kid.  You can go through a lot of bags rather quickly that way.  Especially if you have 7 kids.  Not cost efficient or resource efficient!

My solution?  We started using the plastic refillable water bottles.  You know, the ones with the large screw on lids.  What I love is that the bottles are washable, and the kids do not have to touch the food with hands that may be less than clean from our adventures.  *ahem*  They can open the top, shake a few into their mouths and be able to secure the lid back on.  Very easy!  I love easy.

I use this for everyone except the youngest (18) months.  She is going to touch everything anyway, and she would just dump them on the ground.  🙂

Do you have any tips to share?  You can inspire others or be inspired by popping over to We Are That Family.

PPS- “I heart…” time is coming up on Friday.  Are you thinking about the things that you have seen, heard, experienced, tasted, etc. this week that you just “heart”?

Somewhat Wordless Wednesday

Let’s just say that my daughter, Ms. Serious (13), is not so impressed with my niece’s (A, 13) casting ability.  LOL

Wordless Wednesday/ You Capture!

Or maybe not quite so wordless.  *wink*  Am I ever?   LOL

On our trip to AL for the 4th of July we came to this:

We drive a 3/4 ton van.  Ms. Serious (12) started voicing her concerns pretty much immediately.  The lack of sides really worried her.

Here is the bridge up close:

When Mr. Muscles stopped so I could take this shot:

Oooooohhh.  Aaaahhhhh.

… I noticed this shape in the water below us.

see it?

I am wondering if this is the sign that reads- No Ginormous Vans on This Little Bridge With No Sides!  Hmmmm?

For more You Capture! pop over to I Should Be Folding Laundry, and for more WW head over to 5 Min for Mom.

God bless,
