What I have learned about Christmas cards

I love Christmas cards.

I love choosing the cards I will send.

I always pick out two different cards to mix it up a bit.

I take great care in finding just the right cards that catch my eye and still convey the true meaning of Christmas.

I want to take a moment to send many Christmas wishes from our family to theirs and hope they read about the miraculous and world-changing birth of Jesus, a baby who would grow up to take the weight of the world’s sin upon His shoulders.

I used to love signing each and every card.

I used to love addressing each and every card.

Now that I have to sign eight names on each and every card I get writer’s cramps in my hand by card 10.

There are still 28 more cards to go from there.

Then there are the envelopes.

Would you like to know what I have learned about Christmas cards this year?

Ordering the perfect cards with our names already signed is worth its weight in gold.

Guess what I will be doing next year, though I will still address them all myself and add a personal note in them!

:)

Merry Christmas ya’ll!

I love everything about Xmas cards…except licking the envelope! Yuck. That’s Hubby’s job- seriously, I put them all together and it’s his job to lick the envelope. He’s trying to get creative after trying a sponge and other techniques that haven’t gone over well, he wants to buy stickers this year. After all my paper cuts of stuffing envelopes and organizing the pictures, addresses and such, he can suffer a few licks right? Poor guy.

  4. We send out 80+ cards every year and it used to take me almost 2 weeks to get them all done.

I did the preprinted names and photo cards this year…and mailing labels…and I was done in 2 days. I did still go through and write the peoples names that I was sending it too, because I think there should have been a leeetle bit of handwriting… : )

Edited by Rhen: I agree and will continue to address each and every card myself!

YES, please still write something on each card…It’s so disappointing to get a card with pre-printed names on it and no personal note. Might as well be a note from the pizza place!

Edited by Rhen: Of course, I will still make each card personal and address them myself. :)

  6. I don’t sign all of our names on our cards, just The H* family. Also, we used printed address labels for return addresses, and hand address the destirnation.

Edited by Rhen: I have thought of just using our last name when signing but many of the people we send to do not remember all of the childrens’ names so I like to help them out. ;)

I treaure some of our old handwritten Christmas cards from family members long gone, but at some point you just have to be practical. Bless you for trying!

  8. Hi there,
Just passing by in blogsphere! I also loved to pick the perfect cards and refused to use any of the left overs (horror to get the same card). I used to address all of them too; then, I noticed how easy it was to just ordered the picture cards. I know how you feel because it felt different the first year. However, it has gotten much easier. I enjoyed reading your blogs. I will visit again and feel free to stop by mine! Merry Christmas and have a blessed holiday!
